In Chinese philosophy, yin and yang describes how opposite or contrary forces are actually complementary, interconnected, and interdependent in the natural world, and how they give rise to each other as they interrelate to one another. Inspired by Yin and Yang’s conversion, I made my work to respect our traditional philosophy.
Firstly, I decided to use the red line to make a shape as the main part of my work. Because in this shape, the shadow and light will be produced at the same time.
Secondly, I started to think how to express the conversion of Yin and Yang with the black parts and white parts that I made. I came up with two ideas. One is to put the white parts and black parts in a circle. The other one is to let the light source which I used move. When I put them in this order, the Taichi’s shape appears, and when I turn on the led light, the light moves.
